Mountain Meru

Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano located 70 kilometers west of Mount Kilimanjaro in southeast Arusha Region, Tanzania. Mount Meru is located just north of the city of Arusha, in the Arusha Region of Tanzania. Mount Meru is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, after Mount Kilimanjaro. The mountain rises to a great height of 4,562.13 meters and is visible from Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day. Area encompassed by the mountain is covered by Arusha National Park.

Much of its bulk was lost about 7,800 years ago due to a summit collapse. Mount Meru most recently had a minor eruption in 1910. The several small cones and craters seen in the vicinity probably reflect numerous episodes of volcanic activity.

Arusha National Park has developed a reputation as the greatest spot for day visits and the ideal place to end a lengthy safari in Tanzania. This safari park’s fame is mostly due to its proximity to Arusha, the country’s capital.

The black-and-white colobus monkeys, Mount Meru, wetlands, lakes, waterfalls, and craters may all be found in the national park! There are many different types of fauna and landscape in the magnificent park.

The National Park is also one of the top places for walking safaris in Tanzania. This is because Arusha National Park lacks predators. Apart from Buffalos, Arusha National Park lacks the big five. However, during the morning hours and late in the evening hours, some Hyenas and leopard can be sported sneaking out and into the bushes respectively.
