The Fischer’s tower is a 25 m (75 ft) tall, rocky tower that formed after semi-molten rock was pushed into a fissure, where it cooled and solidified as it was extruded. It is close to the park’s main entrance. Folklore in the Maasai community claims that the tower represents a Maasai girl who disobeyed her family before her wedding and was subsequently turned into stone. The Obsidian Caves are the other must-see attraction while in this area. These Obsidian caves and their distinctive black glass like obsidian rock are located on the Buffalo Circuit. The rocks’ glass-like rock provides a lovely vista. When molten volcanic lava is poured into a lake or the ocean and comes into touch with water, it rapidly cools, creating obsidian rock. The dark green to black colour of obsidian is a result of iron and magnesium. Small air bubbles that are oriented along strata can be found in obsidian.
