3 Days Lake Mburo National Park Safari is one of the best short Uganda Wildlife safari tours to this small yet beautiful national Park. Lake Mburo National Park is known to be the smallest savannah Park in Uganda and has no carnivores within, a reason as to why is referred to as whispers of the wild. It is also the closest national park from Uganda’s capital, therefore making it a good family safari destination.
This 3 days Lake Mburo National Park safari by Vacanza Adventure Safaris is a road trip starting and ending in either Kampala or Entebbe. Activities that can be done in the Park include game drives, a boat cruise, nature walks, horse riding, birding, fishing, cycling or quad biking.
Detailed Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park
Have early morning breakfast or carry packed breakfast then start the journey to Lake Mburo National Park with your safari guide. The drive is about 4 hours from Kampala to the park, however, the first stopover is at the equator line where you stop for an experience on the 0 latitude line and beautiful photography. You can also choose to have your breakfast here.
Continue with the drive to the park and on arrival, you will check in to your lodge. Have your lunch and relax your mind as you prepare yourself for an evening boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The boat cruise will bring you close with beautiful flora and fauna including several mammals such as otters, buffalos, and antelopes, several hippos, and crocodiles. Several bird species including the rare shoebill, African fish eagle, kingfishers, blue-headed weaver birds, herons, and many more water birds can also be seen in the park.
After 2-3 hours’ boat cruise, later on go for a night game drive (if preferred) with a professional armed ranger. The night game drive is an opportunity to see several nocturnal mammals such as bush babies and porcupines out of their hideouts in search of food in the since they are active at night. After the night game drive, return to your lodge, enjoy your dinner and rest.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
Have breakfast at hotel then before heading out for an early morning game drive. This game drive is a rewarding experience of this 3 days Lake Mburo Safari as you will be able to see several ground mammals and nocturnal mammals in abundance. Some of the mammals include; the elands, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, waterbucks and herds of cattle as they all graze on fresh vegetation early in the morning. This will take you between 2-4 hours.
After the game drive, return to your lodge, have a break, take lunch and freshen up ready. Later on, go for an afternoon Boat cruise. Here you will have a good view to spot different species of both mammals like the crocodiles, hippos, and a number of water birds among others.
In case you would not prefer going for another boat cruise, you can also choose to go for an adventure activity like a nature walk, quad biking or cycling.
Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Preferred activity then travel back to Kampala
This morning, you have the opportunity to choose any adventure activity to undertake. Preferably you could go for a nature walk with a guided ranger following the trail towards Rwonyo where several wild animals are licking on the tasty rock. You will also be in a position to see several mammals including the nocturnal returning to their dens, several bird species among others. This nature walks lasts between 2-3 hours. The activity of choice can also be cycling, quad biking, horse riding or fishing.
When you get done with your morning activity, it is then time to go and freshen up before you start the journey back to Kampala. The return drive ends with a drop off at earlier agreed point in Kampala or Entebbe.
