3 days Mgahinga Gorilla trekking safari is a short Uganda gorilla safari itinerary planned by Vacanza Adventure Safaris for a trip to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This trip is 3 days and 2 nights of accommodation at a hotel either budget, mid-range or luxury status depending on your preference.
The road trip is the shortest from Kampala or Entebbe with road distance of about 499km which takes about 9 hours of driving. It is an opportunity to have a gorilla trekking experience with the only gorilla family in the park and known to be big and social than many other groups.
Detailed Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
At the start of your 3 days gorilla safari, your driver from Vacanza Adventure Safaris will be at the hotel in Kampala or Entebbe very early in the morning to pick you up for a transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Meet, greet and then start the drive as you set off for the drive to Mgahinga. Have a break at the equator line then continue to Mbarara for lunch. After Lunch continue with the drive to Mgahinga arriving in the evening. Check in, relax, have dinner and overnight at prior booked lodge.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga
Have an early morning breakfast then head to the park headquarters for briefing from the park guides for the guidelines on gorilla trekking in Mgahinga. Thereafter, start the trek to Mgahinga forest for gorilla trekking experience lasting 2 to 4 hours or more depending on where the mountain gorillas have spent their night. Remember to carry some drinking water and snacks or foods to keep you energized but do not litter a thing in the forest.
When you get to meet with the gorillas, you spend a maximum of 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas. After an encounter with the giant gorillas, you trek back to the start point. Here you receive a congratulatory certificate at the park headquarters and then transfer to the hotel or lodge to refresh from the strenuous day. Have dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Return drive from Mgahinga
From hotel, you will be driven back from Mgahinga to either Kampala or to the Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. You will have a stop at the Igongo cultural centre and also visit craft shops if you are interested in purchasing some items. Your guide will ensure drop off at agreed point marking the end of your 3 days gorilla safari.
