Tour Overview & Highlight

This adventure safari will take you through rainforests, gorges and lush savannah and memorable encounter with chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in some of the country’s most pristine wildlife reserves.

Detailed Day by Day Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

On arrival in Entebbe you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Crater Lakes, Bigodi Swamp walk

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for  your 7am flight to Kasese Airstrip, from where you will be picked and transferred to  your accommodation which sits next to a crater lake with far-reaching views across the Great Rift Valley .

In the afternoon you will head to Bigodi for a guide nature walk. The  Bigodi swamp is  a haven for  8 species of primates, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, L’hoest Monkey, Vervet Monkey and the Blue Monkey and shelters over 200 species of birds including Hornbills, Turacos, Parrots, Cranes, Kingfishers and many more swamp endemics.The swamp also harbours mammals such as sitatungas, bushbucks and otters. Local and knowledgeable guides will take you on an interpretive tour as they escort you through the lush vegetation offering you the perfect opportunity to view the wildlife from the forest pathways, boardwalks and atop a tree house tucked high in the canopy.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking

Head off early again to Kibale National Park for delightful morning of chimp tracking with experienced ranger guides. Chimpanzees are the most intellectual in the animal kingdom, perhaps brighter human beings. During your trek, you will come across other primates including olive baboon, red-tailed monkey, black and white colobus monkey and the blue monkey. Be prepared for muddy terrain and possibly a loud reception from these mischievous primates. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth NP

Breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the journey take about two hours  and is a  great opportunity learn  more about the plants, animals and birds that make up this mesmerising rainforest ecosystem.

In the afternoon head out to explore the crater lakes and visit to the local communities. The community walk will visiting a few landing sites  to learn about their  practices such as traditional fish preservation stoves, traditional canoe making demonstrations, procedure for net sawing and a chance to see women making crafts .

Overnight: Kyambura Gorge Lodge

 

Day 5: Game Drive, Launch Cruise.

Have an early start early of the day as you need to be out by dawn to look for game like lions and Ugandan kob antelope on the Kasenyi plains. We will check the dense thickets of the Mweya peninsula which are an ideal hiding spot for notoriously shy leopard.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which flows between Lakes George and Edward. The channel is home to one Africa’s largest concentrations of hippos, as well as large numbers of elephants, crocodiles and water birds like African fish eagles and pelicans.

 

Days 6: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Depart Queen Elizabeth and drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable forest .This drive may take six hours but as you pass places like Ishasha, be on the lookout for a pride of tree-climbing lions that could be resting on old fig tree. The landscape changes dramatically: Bwindi is a place of steep hillsides, dense jungle and towering trees. Arrive to check in at the lodge to relax and appreciate the beauty of this marvellous tropical forest.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking

After a breakfast you will set out in the early morning for your gorilla tracking experience. Together with your ranger guides and porters, you will trek through thickets and bushes in this impenetrable forest. The gorilla trek is sometimes is hard as the mountains are steep, the air humid and the vegetation dense. But it is  all worth it when you finally reach a group of gorillas and get to watch them eat, groom and play among the trees .An encounter with the mountain gorillas is an inspiring and privileged moment

Day 8: Kihihi Airstrip- Entebbe

Transfer from your Lodge to Kihihi airstrip to for  your flight  back to Entebbe, where your memorable  adventure first began.
