Detailed Day by Day Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to your accommodation in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you can either relax at your hotel or take a short tour of Entebbe town.

Overnight: Papyrus Guesthouse.

Day 2: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Murchsion Falls National Park. Enroute the journey, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking. This is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild. After rhino tracking, you will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. You will arrive in the afternoon and check into your accommodation.

Day 3: Morning Game Drives, Afternoon Launch Cruise

Early in the morning, you will embark on a game drive in the park. During the game drive, you will have a chance to see a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, Ugandan kob, oribi, waterbucks, hartebeest, sitatunga, bushbuck, warthogs buffaloes, and several species of antelopes. After lunch, a three-hour boat trip along the Nile gives you the chance to see Murchison Falls from below. Hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the river. Return to the lodge to lounge by the swimming pool and dinner.

Day 4: Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park.The national park offers one of the most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda, 70 mammal species and 13 primate species. The drive takes 6 hours. After lunch we will take a walk to the Bigodi wetland which shelters over 200 species of birds including Hornbills, Turacos, Parrots, Cranes, Kingfishers and many more swamp endemics. The sanctuary is the home of 8 species of primates, including the Black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Olive Baboon, L’hoest Monkey, Vervet Monkey and the Blue Monkey.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. The activity starts at 8.00 am in the morning. A half day search for chimpanzees and other primates including red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora. After trekking, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive in the evening and check into your accommodation.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive, Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel,

In the morning, you will embark on a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. During the game drive, you will have a chance to see several animals including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and several species of antelopes. After the game drive you will drive to the pier to catch a boat cruise at 11am to the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species After the boat cruise, you will proceed to Ishasha, where you will have a game drive in search of the tree-climbing lions.

Day 7: Game Drive in Ishasha, Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, you will have a game drive in Ishasha to search for the tree-climbing lions. You will then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of mountain gorillas. You will arrive in the afternoon and check into your accommodation.

Day 8: The Encounter with Mountain Gorillas

After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on the gorilla trekking adventure. You will meet your guide and other members of your trekking group at the park headquarters for a briefing. Afterward, you’ll begin your trek into the forest with an experienced guide, who will lead you through the steep and sometimes slippery terrain. Once you locate the gorilla family, you’ll have one unforgettable hour with them before trekking back to the park headquarters. The duration of a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi can vary depending on the location of the gorilla family you’re tracking and the terrain conditions. Trekking can take anywhere between 2 to 8 hours. After the trek, you will return to your accommodation to relax.

Day 9: Drive to Entebbe.

After breakfast, we will start our journey back to Kampala. This will be a long drive of up to 10 hours. The guide will make occasional stops for you to stretch your legs. Drop off at the airport in time for your flight.

There is a possibility for you to break the journey and spend the night in Lake Mburo (if you can spare an extra day) or take a 1-hour domestic flight from Bwindi to Entebbe.
